I will do anything to protect Nyantakyi and GFA - Kwesi Afriyie The Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. George Kwesi Afriyie on Wednesday 28th of March spoke with GTV Sports+ about his recent declaration to contest for the FA presidency. The Liberty Professionals executive has been the only one to officially declare his intentions to contest for the 2019 GFA presidential election. According to him, there is nowhere in the statutes of the GFA that requires that the president has to make his intentions about his decision to contest for presidency known. Asked what his plans are for the FA and why he wants to be President, Mr. Afriyie said, "I understand the dynamics and the president has done so well. So working under him, I feel I can carry the cross." He explains that his walk into football came naturally until professionalism followed. Asked what his relationship with Kwesi Nyantakyi was like, he said that It was better in some time passed than now, because disagreements are bound to happen in every human institution, but stood on the grounds that, his relationship with Kwesi Nyantakyi is very cordial. "People always call for questions in order to use against Kwesi Nyantakyi but always end up disappointed." He added. During the session, he made a shocking revelation prior to his appointment as the Vice President of the FA. He said the President received an anonymous text threatening his life within two years and from his time of appointment till now, he often prays for Nyantakyi to live within two years. He added that he has had close friends who were willing to destroy Nyantakyi through him but said he was not a traitor, though he has been tagged as one.
