Anglogold Ashanti to increase local participation in mining value-chain as its Obuasi Mine bounces back Local businesses within the Obuasi and Iduapriem enclaves of Anglogold Ashanti are expected will in the coming months receive procurement contracts of varying dimensions as the company redevelops its Obuasi while at the same time expanding local participation in its Iduapriem branch. This came to light was when management of the two mines engaged local partners during the company's suppliers Open Day in Accra. Speaking to Business News the Managing Director of Obuasi Mine Eric Asubonteng said the prospects for local participation in the mine which is expected to begin gold production in July next year is enormous. He said the mine is committed to improving the competitiveness of local partners through its enterprise development programme. The Managing Director of the Iduapriem mine Jasper Musadaidzwa encouraged local businesses within its enclave to register on its suppliers system to benefit from competitive bidding for contracts and quotations.
