The Minister of Land and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu, has expressed discontent at what is becoming a constant propagandist posture of stakeholder engagements by multinational mining companies on matters of local content. A very unhappy Peter Amewu fumed at the management of Anglogold Ashanti for apparently deceiving local suppliers into thinking they hold the prospect for the mine's procurement contracts when actually they had signed contracts with two foreign companies even on the blind side of the Ministry which had been engaging the company over the past one year. Mr. Amewu who was addressing the Anglogold Ashanti Suppliers Open Day, an event meant to gather all current and potential local suppliers and contractors of both the Obuasi and Iduapriem mines was doubtful the meeting was going to amount to anything. Meanwhile, attempts to get management of Anglogold Ashanti to comment on the matter have proved futile. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
