2018 World Press Freedom Day launched in Accra The 2018 World Press Freedom Day has been launched in Accra. The global theme for this year is 'Keeping Power in check, Media, Justice and the Rule of Law'. The event which is on the 1st to 4th May is jointly organized by UNESCO and the Government of Ghana and will take place in Accra. Speaking at the launch, the Minister for Information, Mustapha Hamid, said this year's event will cover issues of media, the transparency of the political process and the accountability of State Institutions. The Minister expressed optimism that the Right to Information Bill will be passed into law by the end of this year. The President of the Ghana Journalist Association, Roland Affail Money who described freedom as the oxygen of media practise entreated journalists across the country to register their participation in the event. He said March 30 is the deadline for registration. The President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, GIBA, Andrew Danso Aninkora added his voice to calls for local journalists to participate fully in the event. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
