Sex abuse unacceptable and blot on Ghana- Dr. Opoku Prempeh The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has described sex abuse as unacceptable and a blot on Ghana, the allegations of sex abuse of some students of the Ejisuman Senior High School in Ashanti region by some male teachers. According to him, even though the Ministry and the Ghana Education Service are treating the matter as an allegation, the fact that some of the supposed victims who are identifiable have openly narrated their ordeal, give stakeholders the cause to be agitated about the matter. Addressing a forum on education in Kumasi today, Dr. Opoku Prempeh warned that boarding houses cannot be managed as brothels and that any School Head or Regional Director of Education who fails to instill sanity and discipline would be held liable for any of such offences. Touching on procurement and food supplies to schools, the Minister of Education says as from next academic year, no second cycle school will be allowed to use school platforms to collect PTA Dues, as this has become an avenue for exploitation of Parents and Guardians by some School Heads to deprive students’ access to education.
