Brouhaha over sale of crude oil by BOST borne out of ignorance, says Boakye Agyarko 

The Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, says the current hullabaloo over the sale of crude oil by BOST is out of ignorance of how the petroleum sector works.

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, COPEC, has alleged that the MD of BOST has caused some financial loss to the state by selling crude oil to an unregistered company at a discounted price. 

CEO of COPEC, Duncan Amoah, has subsequently petitioned the Special Prosecutor to take up the matter. 

Speaking to the Parliamentary Press Corps, Mr Agyarko said the current administration inherited a lot of problems at BOST and ways are being found to address them. 

According to him, the sale of the crude oil was one way of dealing with the inherited problems. 

He said in view of how petroleum pricing works, the sale of the crude at a discounted price does not mean a loss to the state.

Mr. Agyarko also touched on the ECG concession arrangement. He said the process is ongoing and it is not true that a winner has been selected.
