Ghana Association of Social Workers call for licensing regime to regulate it's members

The Ghana Association of Social Workers has called on government to, as a matter of urgency, promulgate a law to regulate the work of social work in the country. 

There should also be a council to issue licences to all social workers before they can be employed by any institution. This, in the view of the association, will bring sanity especially to orphanages and monitor the activities of those who give care to the vunerable in society. 

The Technical Coordinator of Social Work Professionalization in Ghana, Alexis Danikuu, said this at a symposium in Accra to climax World Social Workers Day. 

He said social workers play a pivotal role in the economic growth of the country and therefore government must properly regulate their operations.
