Man holds hostages in supermarket in southwest France: reports
A man has taken hostages in a supermarket in the southern city of Trebes, near Carcassonne in France, say police.
A police press officer told to NBC news that at around 11 a.m a man entered a Super U supermarket and gunshots were heard inside. The man is holding hostages but, at this point, French authorities do not know how many people are being held inside.
Swat teams from neighbouring areas are being sent to provide support to local police and there are helicopters flying over the area above the supermarket.

The press office of the national gendarmerie confirmed to NBC there is a major hostage situation in the southern city of Trèbes, 11 kilometres from the medieval city of Carcassonne in southwestern France.
Press officer says that at around 11am, an armed person entered the Super U supermarket. Gun shots were heard inside.
The man is holding hostages but French authorities do not know how many people are being held inside.
Full security forces have been dispatched to the scene.
