MD of Ghana Water Company Limited says fight against galamsey is being lost

The Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited Dr. Clifford Braimah says the fight against galamsey is being lost. 

He said the Company now has to increase the quantity of aluminium sulphate to treat water due to the high levels of pollution caused by illegal mining activities. 

Dr. Braimah said the introduction of Operation Vanguard at the earlier stages helped to reduce the aluminium sulphate in some water bodies. 

Speaking at a National Durbar to mark World Water Day at Manhean in Ngleshie Amanfrom, Dr. Braimah stated that engaging civil society, chiefs and communities in the protection of water bodies will be a better way out.
