A book on the impact of the National School Feeding Program on rural poverty reduction has been launched in Accra. 

Under the Chairmanship of Mr. Daniel Aidoo Mensah, the book looked at the school feeding program at basic schools in Dodowa in the Shai Osu Doku District. 

It critically underlined the feeding challenges and provided recommendations for resolving the identified challenges. 

The Author of the book and Lecturer at Nyansapo College, Dr. Alex Kwame Archine said one challenge that confronts the effective implementation of the Ghana School Feeding Progam is the lack of parental awareness of the workings of the program. 

Dr. Archine observed that most parents have the misconception that the free meal served to the pupils is adequate to cater for their daily needs and so parents do not even provide breakfast for their wards before dispatching them to school. 

Launching the book on behalf of the Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba, the Executive Director of the National School Feeding Program, Dr. Kwame Adu Nsiah said thirteen years down the lane since the introduction of the school feeding programe, the impact has been great since it has pave the way for more children to enroll in school. 

He is optimistic that the findings from Dr. Archine's work will further assist the program to make the necessary corrections in order to better the program.
