Visa applicants maltreatment - CPA endorses calls for change of attitude of Embassies The Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), has reacted to complaints of the behaviour and attitude exhibited by staff of Foreign Missions in Ghana to Ghanaian visa applicants. The applicants are said to be given shabby and dehumanising treatment including extorting money, outright insults and being left to stand in the open while they wait for their turn to be interviewed. The issue was raised in Parliament by the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa about a month ago and called on the House to initiate reforms on how Embassies should treat Ghanaian visa applicants. The Chief Executive of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito at a news conference in Accra said the high cost of visa acquisition fees and the cumbersome procedures are enough to put stress on applicants and this gives an additional burden.
