Ban on illegal mining extended 

Minister of Lands and Natural Resources John Peter Amewu says the ban on small Scale mining is still in force.

He said till such a time that the country's river bodies regain their natural source the ban will still be in force.

In an interview with journalists in Accra Mr Amewu said government is not against mining but want the activities of the small scale miners to be done in a more sustainable manner.
  
He said the Multi Sectoral Mining Integrated Project will soon be launched to harmonise the activities of the small scale mining sector. 

He appealed to the small scale miners to be patient with government as measures are put in place to ensure that their activities are well coordinated.
