Leadership of Koforidua Technical University on sit down strike

The leadership of Koforidua Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana, TUTAG has declared a sit down strike and has threatened to remain on strike until government withdraws sections of the Bill that seek to alter the autonomy of Technical Universities.  

According to the President of Koforidua TUTAG, an amendment to the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) will grant power to the National Council for Technical Education to perform functions which generally fall within the purview of the Governing Councils, the Academic Boards and the Principal Officers of Universities in Ghana.
