Regional Ministers and MMDCES to lead tomorrows clean up exercise ahead of independence anniversary The 61st independence anniversary has been launched in Accra with a focus on keeping Ghana clean. From today March 2, government will organise a clean- up exercise starting from the Ministries enclave to other parts of the country. This has become necessary due to the worsening sanitation situation in the country with recent reports putting Ghana as the 7th dirtiest country in the world. The capital, Accra is inundated with uncollected garbage despite a pledge by President Akufo-Addo to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa by the end of his tenure. The Minister of Sanitation, Kofi Adda has therefore asked Regional Ministers, Municipal and Metropolitan Chief Executives to lead the cleanup exercises in their regions and districts starting from Saturday.
