Fire Service cautions public against false fire alarms

The Western Regional Fire Command has expressed worry about the numerous false alarms raised by an individual which only increases its operational cost. It noted that aside the operational cost, false alarms are dangerous errors that must be avoided. 

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Regional Command Assistant Divisional Officer, Emmanuel Bonney, hitherto it was children who used to give false alarms but now even adults have begun doing so. 

He said the service moves tenders to fire scenes only to realize it is false alarm.  Speaking to radio Ghana in Sekondi, A.D.O Bonney said such alarms lead to waste of fuel, wear and tear of logistics and equipment.

He appealed to the public to desist from calling fire stations falsely. A.D.O Bonney said the region last year saw a decrease in fire outbreaks as compared to 2016.

He said 2016 saw a total of five hundred and twenty-five fire incidents, whiles 2017 was four hundred and fifteen representing twenty point ninety-five percent.
