President Buhari prescribes 'stronger institutions' in Africa's corruption fight

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has been appointed by the ''AU as a Champion against corruption''. 

President Buhari, was elected President in 2015, having run a campaign of ‘rooting out corruption in Nigeria’ and restoring security in the country.

Mr. Buhari pledged to delegates to the AU Summit that he will ensure that the anti-corruption agenda ‘gets the attention it deserves and yields ‘the impact Africa hopes for. 

Speaking at the AU Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Mr Buhari, identified the strengthening of institutions and collaboration between the law enforcement agencies and anti-corruption bodies as effective means of combating corruption in Africa.
