Bongo Senior High School Fire Cadet Corp Inaugurated Academic achievement of students is a cumulative process involving both mastering new skills and improving already existing once. Managers of schools therefore need to create an enabling environment for student to explore their talent to enhance their learning. It is against this backdrop that the Bongo Senior High School has inaugurated a 93 Fire Cadet Corps in Bongo District Upper East Region. The Bongo senior High School was established as public day Senior High School in September 1991. The School which gained boarding status in June 2006 offers four academic programmes namely; General Arts, General Science, Agriculture Science and Home Economics. From a humble beginning, the school has grown from strength to strength both in academics and other disciplines. It has a current student population of 1,912. Out this number, 1,119 are girls and 796 are boys, 108 staff made up of 65 teaching and 43 non-teaching. This came to light at an inaugural ceremony of the school’s Fire Cadet Corps. Speaking to Ghana today, the Headmaster of the school Mr. Alexis Averu Puiyire who made the disclosure said the school’s Fire Cadet Corps started in 2010/2011 by the students. It was in November last year that authorities of the school reached an agreement with the Ghana National Fire Services, GNFS to train the Cadet corps. He said the Cadet have undergone a two weeks training. On parade were 33 Cadets all in uniform, given by the Regional Fire officer. Mr. Puiyire stated that, the school is determined to create an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning and hopes to do that in an atmosphere of peace and unity.
