2018 Championship of African Nations ''CHAN'' kicks off in Morocco

The 2018 Championship of African Nations ''CHAN'' kicks off today January 13, in Morocco, with a one point two million dollars cash prize at stake. 

The 16 team tournament will be used to pilot the Video Assistant Referee system on African soil. 

The system, which will be used from the quarter final stages, allows off-field match officials to assist referees in game-changing situations such as goals, penalty kicks, straight red cards and cases of mistaken identity. 

The tournament, in its fifth edition is for players who ply their trade in their domestic championships. 

Host nation Morocco beat Egypt to qualify from the North Zone, before stepping in to replace Kenya as hosts for the tournament. 

The games will be live on GTV and GTVSPORTS PLUS.
