Veteran Journalist Bature Laid to Rest at Madina Cemetery Veteran journalist, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu who died on Friday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he was receiving treatment after a short illness, was buried on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in line with the Islamic faith at the Madina Cemetery in Accra. The late Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj Newspaper Alhaji Bature Alhaji Bature was a devoted supporter of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) but a fierce critic of the party’s founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Mrs. Konadu Agyemang Rawlings. Former President Mahama who was unable to attend the funeral because he was at NDC Unity Walk in Techiman in the Bono-Ahafo region, sent a delegation led by his younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama, and the NDC MP, for Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini, to take part in burial and also mourn with the family of the late Alhaji Bature. Eulogizing the veteran journalist, former President John Dramani Mahama described his death as a great loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Writing on his Facebook timeline, Mr. Mahama said Bature was endowed with “a great sense of analysis” and “will be sorely missed.” “Sudden news of the passing of my brother and friend, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu. This is a great personal loss and for the NDC family. His wit and a great sense of analysis will be sorely missed. May Allah the Merciful grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” he wrote.
