Pusu -Namoo Chief Decries Divisive Politics


The Chief of Pusu-Namoo, Naab Zaanbul Kumbelimsaa Bazaah says the tendency where people allow politics to jeopardize friendly relations and break family ties is suicidal and must be avoided. 

He said Ghanaians irrespective of religious or ethnic persuasions have co-existed for years and therefore people should not let politics be an albatross to destroy this long standing relationship. 

Naab Kumbelimsaa Bazaa made the call during a health walk organised by the Maalitaaba Women Group as part of activities to mark its two year anniversary celebration. 

Members who were clad with various political party t-shirts and paraphernalia’s had placards with inscriptions some of which read” We can’t live without Peace, We are one, we need peace, One nation, one people” among others.  

It was on the theme: “Maalitaaba for Development, Women for Growth”. Naab Kumbelimsaa Bazaa encouraged the members to continue to be ambassadors of peace and reminded them of their civic duty to vote freely and depart to their various homes till voting period is over. 

He further urged them to vote for candidates whose ideologies are tailored towards addressing their socio-economic needs. 

Speaking on behalf of the Maalitaaba Association, a member, Belinda Yin appealed to political candidates to propagate the essence of peace to their supporters and not expose them to activities that could undermine the prevailing peace in the country.  

She also advised the youth in the area not to consider this year’s election as a “do and die” affair, but rather foster unity among themselves and fight for the common good of the country. 

Ms. Yin expressed the belief that God had already chosen the one to lead the constituency and no amount of conflict or intimidation can change. 

What is left, she noted, was for them to pray and rally behind whoever emerges as the winner to accelerate the pace of development in the district. 

On the prospects of the association, Ms. Yin said the association which came into being two years ago exists to promote the development of the community and membership is opened to all women in the area. 

According to her, the focus of the association is to raise enough funds to build a craft centre that will help create job for a number of unemployed women idling in the community.
