The Daily Graphic stresses the need for a conducive environment during the December elections. It said the poll is only eight days away and there seem to be some tension and pockets of violence across the country which must not be so since the success of an election is dependent on a peaceful atmosphere. The paper says if violence is not checked, electorates are not likely to turn up and that will stifle freedom and fairness of the elections. The paper applauds moves to caution security personnel against engaging in partisan behaviours since their duty at the polling station is to ward of troublemakers and ensure orderliness. The Graphic further urges the electorates to desist from offering any form of gifts to personnel and avoid going to centres drunk.

The Ghanaian Times calls on all to accept the outcome of the December polls. According to the paper, the conduct of the special voting on Thursday December 1 would be an indication that the EC is prepared and ready to conduct the polls. The Times says it appears the country, the EC, political parties and all relevant stakeholders are in agreement towards the elections. It also expresses the hope that the special voting where journalists and all those who will play active roles in the general election are expected to cast their ballot would be conducted orderly and peacefully. The Times is therefore calling on all such persons to obey the electoral laws to enhance freedom and justice. The paper further adds that, if the elections are free, fair and transparent, and the electorates acts responsibly, the results would be acceptable to all.
