Veep Amissah-Arthur inaugurates 500 capacity bed girls’ dormitory for Jinijini SHS


Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has inaugurated a million cedi 500 capacity bed girls’ dormitory for the Jinijini SHS in the Berekum municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region. 

Similar facility for the boys is more than 70 percent complete. 

Construction works for the tarring of the school’s road network is also far advanced. 

Mr. Amissah-Arthur explained that government’s decision to provide educational infrastructure is in line with its focus of achieving quality education, aimed at adequately equipping the students for the competitive job market. 

Radio Ghana’s Seth Eyiah who is with the Veep campaign team, reports that the Jinijini SHS was established by former President Rawlings. 

Since 2009, government has consistently been adding up to the facilities in the school to enhance teaching and learning. 

The dormitories for the boys and girls are as a result of increasing student population in order to accommodate those students who come from far and near communities. 

The authorities at the school appealed to government for a dining hall, a computer laboratory among others. 

Mr. Amissah-Arthur said the NDC’s manifesto theme of putting people first hinges on education and health. 

He said an educated and healthy population is good for the rapid development of the country. 

That is why since 2009, government has been investing massively in education and health.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur said achieving quality education also depends on the quality of teachers. It is for this reason that government is focusing on improving teacher education. 

He said though the teaching and learning of the arts are good but government is placing emphasis on science bias education since it is the only way to go in today’s competitive world.

The Vice President advised the students to take their studies seriously as government makes the effort to further improve the availability of facilities in the school. 

The chiefs of Jinijini expressed gratitude to government not only for the school but also for the numerous infrastructural projects dotted across the community including roads and electricity.
