President Mahama to turn Ashanti region into industrial hub next term- chief of staff

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has disclosed that the next term of President John Mahama will give attention to developing the Ashanti region into the entrepreneurial paradise of Ghana. 

According to him, Ashanti region is already noted for business, commerce and entrepreneurship and the region would be offered more support to adequately develop this opportunity not only to generate employment, but to also take the center stage in the country's industrialization agenda. 

Addressing journalists ahead of the start of his five-day campaign tour of the region, the chief of staff mentioned in particular the Suame light industrial area popularly called the Suame magazine and the KNUST which are noted for their prowess in the automobile industry, for special assistance to improve on their inventions and creativity to expand their frontiers. 

Mr. Debrah explained further that just as Ghana's first president created Tema as the country's industrial hub, cape coast and Sekondi-Takoradi as the nerve centers for formal education and railways transportation, it is only appropriate for Kumasi in particular and the Ashanti region in general to be developed into the business and entrepreneurial center of modern Ghana saying that the people are already into business and commerce. 

Mr. Debrah noted also that his campaign in the region will seek to reach every nook and cranny with detailed development plans of the next government of President Mahama particularly in the area of agriculture. 

He will be meeting traditional and religious leaders as well as identifiable groups to directly explain to them the manifesto policies of the NDC to encourage them to vote for the party in next month's presidential and parliamentary elections.
