Stakeholders in the maritime industry in Africa meet in Accra Stakeholders in the maritime industry in Africa are meeting in Accra to deliberate on the Hong Kong Convention which is intended to address issues relating to the recycling of decommissioned ships. For the next three days, the participants will see how best the Convention can be speedily ratified and implemented by countries. In a message, the Minister of Transport, Fiifi Kwetey described the Convention as relevant to the needs of the global maritime industry. He said it provides a legally binding instrument which ensures environmentally sound processes for ship recycling. GBC
