Cote d'Ivoire bans production and sale of alcohol in sachets 

Cote d'Ivoire has banned the production and sale of alcohol in sachets. 

The popular sachets, containing rum, vodka or other spirits, are sold for prices ranging from 200 to one thousand CFA francs. 

Announcing the ban, government spokesman Bruno Kone says the measure is based on public health grounds, to prevent alcoholism.
