The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has hosted Parliamentary candidates of the Mion Constituency of the Northern Region in its nationwide debate. 
	
The debate attracted identifiable groups such as Faith Based Organizations, civil society organizations and People with Disability. 

The debate provided a platform for the candidates to interact with the public and solicit commitments from them on Issue-Based Campaigning. 

The Mion District Director of the NCCE, Sayibu Zakiyu disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Radio Savannah in Tamale.   Four parliamentary candidates in the constituency took part in the debate. 

They were Mohammed Abdul-Aziz NDC, Mohammed Hashmin Abdallah NPP, Shaibu Abdul-Rauf PNC and Solomon Naji CPP. 

Mr.  Zakiyu said the NCCE is committed to engaging the parliamentary candidates and the electorates on the need to ensure peace and credible elections.  

He explained that, the debate is also to provide a non-violent season and ensure tolerance and peace before, during and after elections. 

The parliamentary candidates in their address pledged to work hard to improve on the education, health and agriculture sectors when given the nod in the December polls. 

They also pledged to campaign devoid of politics, insults and character assassination to ensure peace before, during and after the elections.
