Parliament salutes farmers, fishermen with calls for more funds for sector

Ghana’s Parliament has saluted farmers’ and fishers’ as the nation honors them today. 

In a statement, the Chairman of the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs, Gabriel Essilfi said Agric dominated by the aged using outmoded farm tools. 

He tasked government to devote more budget allocation to agriculture and fisheries to accelerate the sector's growth.

The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr. Sagre Bambangi said the pricing regime in agriculture has waned interest in the field. 

The MP for Amenfi Central, George Arthur said negative environmental practices have stalled the growth of Farming and fishing.
