Today Is The 32nd Edition Of National Farmers Day All is set for today’s National Farmers Day which is meant to reward gallant farmers for their contribution to the growth and development of the country. This year's celebration which is the 32nd in the series is taking place at Kintampo in the Brong-Ahafo Region. Speaking ahead of the day the Deputy Minister of Agric in charge of crops, Dr. Yakubu Alhassan said despite challenges such as lack of storage facilities and out dated technologies used by farmers, government is doing all it can to ensure that the right environment is created for farmers to produce more Meanwhile, peasant farmers in the country are outraged at the way rural farmers are neglected during the celebration of the National Farmers Day. According to them the celebration seems to involve more technocrats than the farmers who are being celebrated. The President of the Peasant Farmers Association Charles Nyaaba in an interview with Behind the News said the Ministry has not even written to the Association to formerly invite them. This, he said is wrong and called for a review of the strategy for the awards to focus more on small holder farmers. GBC
