Media to apply for accreditation to cover upcoming general elections

Ghana’s Electoral Commission has announced that, from Monday, October 31, to Monday, November 7, 2016, the EC will accept applications from media houses who are interested in observing the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. 

A statement issued by the Commission on Monday, October 31, said all media houses who wish to observe the elections are requested to submit the names and details of personnel per the enclosed format to the Commission by close of day Monday, November 7, 2016. 

According to the statement, all accreditation request be sent through the Regional representatives of the Ghana Journalist Association, (GJA) to the Communications Unit of the Electoral Commission or by email at: mediaoffice@ec.gov.gh.

It further said accreditation tags will be given to only those who have formally applied for it and for a fee to be determined by the Commission. 

“Any request submitted after the deadline of 7th November, 2016 will not be considered.” The statement concluded.
