Prez Mahama describes NPP’s campaign promises as “Political Gimmick” 


President John Mahama, has shot down NPPs promise to extend the retirement age of Military personnel from 60 to 65 in their first term in office as a "Political Gimmick". 

He said the fact that such a policy was not captured in the party's recently launched Manifesto makes the idea an afterthought for political gains. 

Addressing rallies on the second phase of the Eastern region campaign tour, President Mahama, said Ghanaians are discerning and can decipher facts from Propaganda. 

President Mahama, addressed rallies at New Abirem, Ayirebi, Akroso,Anum-Apapam and Suhum. 

At New Abirem, the President inaugurated a new market complex for the people. 

The market project was started during former President Jerry Rawlings regime but stalled after the NDC lost to the NPP in the year 2000. 

Apart from having very modern washrooms and a large car park, the market has a Day care center to take care of the wards of the traders. 

At a mini rally at Akroso, hundreds of residents defied heavy rain to catch a glimpse of the President. President Mahama, asked them to ignore the empty promises by the NPP. 

He said during their eight years in office the NPP did not build a single hospital or school for the region. 

Under the NDC the region is benefiting from thirteen of the Community Day Senior Schools. Ongoing is a new District hospital at Abetifi. 

The region can also boast of a hundred and four Community Based Health Planning Services known as CHPS compounds.

He announced that twenty -five communities in the Akroso district will soon be connected to the national grid. Akroso feeder roads will also be put under the third phase of the Cocoa Roads Improvement Programme which starts in January.

All the Chiefs that President Mahama, called on did not only tout the many projects they have benefitted from under the NDC but prayed that the John Mahama led administration takes a commanding lead in the December polls.
