French government expresses confidence in Ghana's economy 

The French government has expressed confidence in Ghana's economy, saying it will encourage more investment in the country's economy. 

The French Prime Minister, Mario Valls said this in an interview with Radio Ghana,shortly after arrival at the Jubilee Lounge in Accra.  

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur and some government officials, were there to welcome him.  

The French Prime Minister is on a two day state visit to Ghana. 

A French investment in Ghana’s economy currently stands at more than one billion dollars.  The figure is expected to double in view of Ghana's continuous stable democracy, rule of law, and the prevailing peace.  

The visit by Prime Minister, Mario Valls is a follow up to President Mahama's two time meeting with President Francois Hollande in Paris last year and this year.  

In those meetings, France agreed to provide Ghana with 35.7 million euros through its Agency for International Development for the financing of the second phase of the Kumasi roads and drainage extension project.  

Prime Minister Valls said Ghana has become an ally of France judging from their co-operation on many international issues, commitment and their shared common values.  

As part of his itinerary, Prime Minister Valls will hold bilateral talks with President Mahama at the Flagstaff House and also visit the Touton Cocoa Factory in Tema.
