Prof Ahwoi advises Atwedie children to use electricity for studies

An NDC Stalwart, Prof. Kwamina Ahwoi, has advised children and young people in Atwedie and other Communities in the Asutifi North District of Bono-Ahafo, which have just been hooked onto the National Electricity not to use electricity for watching TV but for study in the evening.  

According to him education is the best safe guard for their future which they must not toy with. 

Prof. Ahwoi was speaking at the commissioning of the connection of Atwedie in Asutifi North to the National Electricity Grid.  

The event formed part of the just ended tour of Bono-Ahafo by the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Julius Debrah.

The fourth and final day of the Chief of Staff's tour of the Bono-Ahafo Region saw him and his entourage visiting the Asutifi North District to commission the electrification of two Communities and attend the Campaign launch of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Eric Addae.  

The Chief of Staff earlier in the day also interacted with the Leadership of the Islamic Community in Sunyani as well with Market Women at a Conference at Abesim near Sunyani.  

He climaxed the day with a Job Summit for Young people Organised by the Bono-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council and the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.  

Prof Ahwoi prophesied that the NPP will be in opposition for the next forty years mainly due their poor record in Government between 2000 and 2008.  

Prof. Ahwoi also said the road leading to Atwedie which is in a very bad shape will be constructed if the NDC stays in power.  

He admonished children and young adults in the area to use electricity as a means to deepen night studies, which he said is the main advantage areas with electricity have over areas which lack it.  

He said education transforms life hence the need to make introduction of electricity give it a boost.  

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah said electricity has been provided to improve economic activity in the area.  

A similar electricity commissioning ceremony was also held at Obengkorm.  

Other Communities that have also been hooked to the National Electricity Grid are Agyapongkrom, Amaagyemang and Owusuansah, among a total of 54 Communities all connected between 2015 and now.  

Later the Chief of Staff and his Team, joined a sizable crowd of NDC Faithful, at the Roman Park in Kenyasi No. Two for the Campaign launch of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Asutifi North.  

Addressing them, the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Alhaji, Collins Dauda, urged the People to vote for President Mahama since he is more experienced after spending more time in Government beyond Parliamentary and Ministerial duties, when compared to the NPP Presidential Candidate.

He also said after close to eight years as a successful DCE, the time has come for the Electorate in the area to vote Eric Addae as the MP for Asutifi North.  

The final engagement for the Chief of Staff and his entourage for the Bono-Ahafo tour was a health walk with NDC Faithful in Sunyani.  

Among the Participants were the Ministers for Tourism and Creative Arts as well as Gender and Social Protection, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare and Nana Oye Lithur.
