Kalyppo sales soars at NPP manifesto launch The sale of kalyppo drink has gone up within these few days due to the recent kalyppo craze. A photo of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, sipping the drink with a straw went viral on social media after it was mocked by opponents. The response to the photo was huge as officials and supporters of the NPP, posted photos of themselves drinking Kalyppo in a show of support for Nana Addo. The fruit juice, Kalypo took centre stage at the party’s 2016 manifesto launch at the Ghana International Trade Fair Center in Accra. Kalyppo is the flagship natural fruit juice brand from Aqua fresh Limited, which has no added preservatives and fortified with nutrients and essential vitamins to increase the well-being of children ages 4-16 years old. It has 8 flavors: Pineapple, Orange, Multifruit, Fruitimix, Apple, Citrus Passion, Guava and Oranpine. Each juice box comes in 250ml pack. Kalyppo juices are staples at lunch, and snack time, at home, and in school. Since it was introduced into the market in 1998, Kalyppo has grown rapidly and it is sold and distributed across Ghana and in Togo, Cote D'Ivore, Nigeria and Burkina Faso. Kalyppo is one of the leading juice brands manufactured for local consumption and international export. Its production capacity according to the manufactures is 250,000 liters per day. Ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s manifesto launch at the Trade Fair Centre last Sunday, scores of traders were seen cashing in on the increased activity in the area. Most of the traders set up stalls to exhibit their wares to the numerous supporters of the opposition party New Patriotic Party, (NPP) who have thronged the Centre. Some traders have also cartons of Kalyppo, following the recent social media storm which has resulted in a resurgence for the brand. Speaking to Ruth Abla Adjorlolo of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s webcast, a distributor who wants to remain anonymous, said he supplied about 5,000 cartons of kalyppo on the day of NPP’s manifesto launch.
