Unconfirmed Number Of Persons Gone Missing On White Volta

Reports reaching Radio Ghana say a number of persons  have gone missing on the White Volta River at Daboya in the Northern Region. 

The unconfirmed number of missing persons were said to be crossing the river back to Tamale on a canoe last night after participating in an NDC campaign launch in Daboya.  

A search team  dispatched to search for those  missing  returned without success. 

Daboya has two trunk roads to Tamale, the shortest, which is about forty eight kilometers requires the crossing of the White Volta on a canoe. 

Two years ago, an entire team of people drowned on the river. 

In spite of the risk involved, our correspondent reports that people continue to patronize the services of canoes without live jackets.
