Independent parliamentary candidate calls for political decorum

An Independent Parliamentary Aspirant for the Sunyani East, Ambassador George Kumi has entreated Political Party Leaders to make decorum a guiding principle in their engagements. 

According to him, making decorum a focal point of partisan politics will enhance a clean campaigning period devoid of insults and unnecessary discourse. 

Ambassador George Kumi made the comment in an interview with Radio Ghana on the sidelines of his maiden working visit to the State Broadcaster's Radio BAR in the regional capital of Bono-Ahafo, Sunyani.

As the nation heads to the polls the political arena keeps warming up with continuous campaign activities being held in different forms and at various locations simultaneously. 

This has attracted many calls from all quarters on the need to ensure some sanity in the system and encourage tolerance among the political parties.  

This will prevent the clashes that might plunge the country into chaos and confusion. Latest to drum home the need for peaceful electioneering is Ambassador George Kumi, an independent parliamentary aspirant for Sunyani East Constituency. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana during a visit to the GBC in Sunyani, Ambassador Kumi re-echoed the need for all to cherish the peace in the country and wisely guard and protect it for prosperity. 

He is of the view that by so doing the feat chalked up by Mother Ghana in her Democratic dispensation will be rated levels higher after the polls. 

He said the onus is on especially political leaders to walk the talk and imbibe the spirit of patriotism and tolerance in their followers. 

To the Youth he advised that they abstain from acts that will mar the elections and engage in profitable ventures bearing in mind what the future holds for people who engage in lucrative activities.

Touching on his visit to GBC, Ambassador Kumi said he recognises the vital role it plays in information dissemination hence the rational for choosing to visit the station. 

He said the visit forms part of his agenda to engage the media in fruitful discussions and also remind them of their responsibility of keeping society informed especially during elections. 

After an interactive session with the staff of the State Broadcaster, Ambassador Kumi promised to donate modern studio chairs to the Corporation and erect a new sign post to replace the old existing one. 

He said this will enhance the operations of the station and boost its image. 

He promised to support the station with other incentives in due course. 

Ambassador Kumi praised the station for its neutrality in its political programs. 

He was later conducted around the various sections of the GBC. 

Ambassador Kumi is expected to make  similar visits to other stations in the region.
