Sport and faith "drive social change", tolerance and peace says UN Boss Sport and faith foster "fundamental values of respect and friendship" according to the UN chief Ban Ki-moon, speaking at a conference in the Vatican on Wednesday. The event, entitled "Sport at the Service of Humanity" was an initiative of the Holy See and the International Olympic Committee. The Secretary-General had a private audience with Pope Francis before attending the conference. UN Deputy Spokesperson, Farhan Haq said: "The Secretary-General said that sport and faith are based on fundamental values of respect and friendship. At their best, they are open to everyone; they are diverse and inclusive; and they transcend barriers of nationality and ethnicity." SOURCE: UN Radio
