Jubilant PPP supporters welcome Dr. Nduom to Salaga North


Hundreds of jubilant supporters of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in the Salaga North Constituency welcomed the Presidential candidate Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom into the constituency on Wednesday. 

Addressing party faithful in Bunjayi in the Salaga North Constituency, Dr. Nduom challenged the people to use the upcoming elections to prove to politicians that they cannot be taken for granted. 

He asked them to assess their living conditions carefully to see if they are indeed benefiting from those they voted for since 1992. Dr. Nduom said it is an insult to the people when politicians abandon them for four years only to rush into the commissioning of projects during the election year just to win votes. 

“They are on the road because it is election time and they want your votes”. He said.

Dr Nduom said no party can take the people for granted. 

Dr. Nduom used the occasion to outdoor the Parliamentary candidate for the PPP in the constituency, Abdul Fataw Abdul Wahab, and urged the people to vote for him and see a change in their fortunes. 

As part of his two day campaign tour of the Northern Region, the PPP Presidential hopeful held rallies in Wulensi, Bimbilla, Tatale, Savelugu, Gushegu and Karaga before moving to the Upper East Region on Thursday. 

In an interview Radio Ghana’s Regional Correspondent Murtala Issah, Dr. Nduom reiterated his commitment to industrializing the country, by exploiting its agricultural potential. 

Dr. Nduom said the fertile lands of the Eastern Corridor of Ghana should be a source of empowerment to the people. 

For the electorate in the area, the road network remains a major issue, seven out of ten people Radio Ghana interviewed in Bimbila, Wulensi and Kpandai, said their major concern is the road network followed by the quality of education. 

The area is noted for the production of tuber crops including yam and cassava as well as grains and legumes. 

A Brazilian company was working on the Oti Damanku-Kulungungu stretch of the road has abandoned the project as a result of political changes in Brazil. 

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini on the 24th of September announced that, government has released one hundred and two million Ghana Cedis for work to resume on the project.
