Academy of sciences wants 2% of GDP invested into research


The Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences are calling on government to devote two percent of the country's GDP to science and research.  

According to the academy the changing pattern of diseases in Africa means that much resources be devoted to the sciences to find solution to this changing trends.  

A senior fellow of the Academy pro pf Isabella Quaye made the call at the launch of a health booklet on the Changing Disease Patterns in Africa. 

Prof. Quaye said research should generate evidence to inform policymaking and provide new tools to control disease and to support program implementation.
