The Ghanaian Times joins the country to say ayekoo to the entire teaching population as the country marks World Teachers Day October 5. The paper describes teachers as crucial who without doubt serve as the key that opens the door to the world of knowledge. It says the celebration is in the right order as teachers across the country have discharged their duties even in the face of challenges. The occasion, which is expected to award more than one hundred teachers, national service and foreign volunteer teachers as well as retired teachers, will be marked at Sunyani in the Bono Ahafo Region. Although, the Times believes the awards serve as motivation to teachers, it calls for more attention to be paid to their welfare, particularly those in rural areas.

The Daily Heritage describes some remarks by some politicians as divisive. The paper calls on politicians to focus on messages that will unify the country so that the peace being enjoyed can be sustained. The Heritage agrees that there could be infuriating elements within the body politic but cautions against retaliatory remarks as defense mechanism since two wrongs don't make a right.
