GCPP poised to liberate Ghanaian's from economic hardship

Vice Presidential Nominee for Election 2016 of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) John Amekah has said that the party would lead Ghana to attain economic independence if elected to form the next government.

“If Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and the Convention Peoples Party (CPP)… attained political independence for Ghana, then the GCPP Presidential Nominee, Dr Henry Lartey will lead the country for economic emancipation,” Mr. Amekah told the Ghana News Agency in Accra an interview in Accra.

The interview, was captured under the Ghana News Agency project “GNA Tracks Elections 2016,” which seeks to educate the electorate on the various issues raised by political parties, the elections management body and other governance institutions.

The project also seeks to ensure gender and social inclusion in national politics and also provide voice for the youth, vulnerable groups, opinion leaders and the broader spectrum of the society to contribute to peaceful elections.

It has also created a platform to analyse the manifestos of all political parties and provide in-depth news items on each thematic area, as captured to the electorate for them to make an informed judgement.

Mr. Amekah who was GCPP former General Secretary said the party is poised with prudent approaches for liberating Ghanaian's from economic hardship.

He said: “A GCPP government would eradicate poverty, joblessness and hunger through our domestication ideology postulated by the late Mr Dan Lartey GCPP Founder and Leader.”

He said the Party's domestication ideology is capable of resolving the economic challenges in the country.

"Domestication means producing and adding value to our local goods to make them attract good prices on the international market.”

Mr. Amekah said Ghana would be safe in the hands of GCPP as the Party’s domestication ideology alone could lay the foundation towards the attainment of economic independence.

He expressed optimism about the Party's chances in the 2016 polls, saying Ghanaians have accepted the domestication idea and are willing to give the GCPP the mandate to form the next government.

Mr. Amekah who was also the former General Secretary of the Democratic Freedom Party asserted that, Ghana needs new corps of leaders to steer the affairs and the GCPP is very ready for the task.

"Successive governments have failed Ghanaians and the GCPP is the saviour through the Party's domestication ideology, which is also predicated on improved Agriculture and functional local industries.

"Unlike that of other political parties, the foundation of our domestication ideology is agriculture."

He hinted that, if the Party is given the mandate it would bring farmers under a board, which would be mandated to champion and spearhead effective farm practices to help boost productivity in the agricultural sector.

"We would bring together all winners of the Annual Farmers Day Award from the district, regional and the national levels to form the board which will see to educating farmers on the best farming practices.

“This would result in increased production of food crops in large scale, provide job opportunities for many Ghanaians," he added.

The Vice Presidential Nominee said, a GCPP led government would retool all agriculture schools and uplift them to tertiary status to improve the human resource base particularly for the sector.

"Former President Nkrumah brought Teacher Training Colleges, GCPP would establish and resource Agricultural Colleges to cater for the training in Agricultural courses.

"Here more teachers would be employed-another avenue of job for Ghanaians," he said.

Mr. Amekah said, his Party will also develop Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by providing favourable local market for marketing their outputs.

"Since 2012, our Presidential Candidate, Dr. Lartey has placed relevance on the creation of enabling environment for SMEs, and that agenda continues to be our topmost priority,” he observed.

He said a GCPP government would invest in the production of electric energy through solar plants, which would be resourced to have the capacity comparable to the Akosombo Dam.

"We can address the current power crisis, which has crippled our industries by finding an alternative that is solar."  

He said the solar plants, which would supplement the various dams in the country to generate electric power would be located in the Ashanti and Northern Regions.

"The Dams would be catering for bigger industries while the solar would provide for the small industries,” he said.
