ICU Ghana, SASK Finland promote freedom of association with float ICU Ghana in collaboration with SASK-Finland has organized the 2016 campaign on freedom of association with a float. It targeted hotel and restaurant workers in Tema, who are unable to join Unions of their choice. The float took off from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly’s forecourt through some hotels and restaurants; distributing leaflets to encourage such people to join Unions of their choice to better their working conditions. The Tema Regional Officer of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union, ICU, Eleazer Nyaunu, said article 21 subsection One of the constitution of Ghana encourages freedom of association, which includes freedom to form or join trade unions or other associations, national or international for the protection of their interest; however most workers in the hotel and restaurant business are denied such freedom.
