The Heritage describes as insensitive the failure of ECG to release a load shedding time table to assuage the frustrations of thousands of Ghanaians and businesses. The Paper notes that it should be clear to government by now that the erratic power supply is creating a lot of disaffection for the regime.  According to the Heritage, the current trend does not allow for proper planning hence making things difficult for people. It therefore urges the ECG and government to listen to the concerns of the people because they are genuine. 

The Ghanaian Times calls on government and the Ministry of Health to improve mental health in the country. The call follows revelations that more than 2.4 million Ghanaians representing about ten percent of the population are suffering from mental illness. The Times says the revelation is very alarming and needs an urgent look at. The paper says the dire state of mental health institutions, low level of staffing, under funding and low morale among professionals is the bane of the country’s mental health care system. The paper says the Mental Health Act should be backed by the operationalisation of the law to ensure the establishment of a Mental Health Fund. 

The Daily Graphic appeals to government and other stakeholders to scrutinize the Economic Partnership Agreement. The paper says government needs to explore the opportunity to grow local businesses into regional and international giants. The Graphic adds that with the partnership, the country will receive a lot of revenue by way of taxes and revenue, while keeping its people in full employment. The paper says the partnership will boost the country’s economy into an upper middle income country, which could entitle it to other forms of reciprocal trade pact with the EU. It says the debate over Ghana’s signing the agreement is very healthy given the very importance of Ghana EU relations.
