Attach importance to register exhibition - Abetifi EC tells electorate
 

Response to the voters’ register exhibition exercise has been generally low across the Abetifi Constituency in the Eastern Region.

It appears there is no motivation for voters in the area to verify their names in the roll as many of them having voted in last week Saturday’s parliamentary by-election there are convinced they would be able to vote in the coming polls.

As of mid-day on the first day, only five people had shown up at the Abetifi Community Centre, when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the place. 

There are 385 registered voters in that centre.

The situation was not any different at the Abetifi Community Library ‘A’ and ‘B’ centres, which between them have a total registered voter population of 1,225, only 47 had checked for their names. 

At the Pepease Cultural Centre, 25 people had been verified out of 654 voters registered.

The District Electoral Officer, Ms. Stella Sarpong, said everything had been done to ensure a successful exercise.

She said the relevant materials had been dispatched to all the exhibition centers and that so far all had gone well.

Ms. Sarpong appealed to the people to attach importance to the exercise and have their names checked.
