Arrears Owed By Government ‘Likely’ To Delay SHS Re-Opening There are fears re-opening of Senior High Schools for the 2016/2017 academic year will be delayed due to non-payment of arrears of absorbed fees, feeding grants, and scholarships among others. The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools, (CHASS), expressed this sentiment today (July 20) at an emergency meeting in Accra, saying, the schools cannot re-open because they are cash strapped. The President of CHASS, Cecilia Kwakye Cofie, called on the Ministry of Education and the relevant agencies to address their challenges. She said a lot is being spent on electricity, water and sanitation while government of Ghana grant for administration has also not been paid since 2011. GBC
