Turkey coup attempt: charges laid against 99 generals and admirals

Turkey has temporarily banned all academics from travelling abroad. 

The move follows last week's failed coup and comes amid a wide-ranging purge of state employees. 

More than fifty thousand people have been rounded up, sacked or suspended.

So far about 1,577 University Deans have been asked to resign in addition to twenty-one thousand teachers and fifteen thousand education officials from the Ministry. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is chairing a national security and cabinet meetings in the capital, Ankara. 

It is the first time since he returned to the city after the attempted coup last Friday.
