President Mahama inaugurates water system for Kparigu

President John Mahama, has arrived to a rousing welcome in Tamale in the Northern region at the start of a two-day 'accounting to the people tour', of the region.

The President's first port of call was at Nalerigu, where he called on the Chief, Naa Bohu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga at his palace. The Chief welcomed the president to the region.

President Mahama, said he has nostalgic feelings anytime he comes home to the North.

People of Kparigu and surrounding towns in the East Mamprusi district of the Northern Region now have access to potable water with the inauguration of a small town water system for them. 

President John Mahama, inaugurated the project as part of his ‘Accounting To The People Tour’ of the region.

The system can produce forty- five thousand cubic meters of water per day to feed more than seven thousand residents.

The Kparigu town has also benefited from ten standpipes. The Chief of Kparigu, Sugri Abdulai Mahami Sheriga, was excited because it is the first time a sitting President is visiting the town.

While showing appreciation for the water project, he promised good maintenance culture.

Naa Sugri Sheriga, appealed to government to provide the people with a tractor for Agriculture purposes. 

He also told the President that he is willing to give out a parcel of land for the building of a Senior High School for Kparigu. 

President Mahama, said government has made very positive strides with regards to providing potable water to most rural communities across the country.

The President also mentioned some ongoing projects in the Mamprugu area.

President Mahama announced that government has taken delivery of new tractors from Brazil and will direct the Minister of Food and Agriculture to deliver one to them.

Meanwhile, President Mahama has inspected work on the road upgrade from Walewale-Gambaga. 

The road to be upgraded to a first class one will be ready by the end of the year.
