GES asks teachers to resort to counseling rather than use of canes The Ghana Education Service is asking Head teachers and teachers to comply with its policy not to use canes on students, but rather resort to counseling. According to the service, the use of canes only hardens the students and puts fear in them, however, counseling provides a friendlier and much more conducive environment for teaching and learning. The Public Relations Officer of the GES, Reverend Jonathan Bettey said this at the 40th anniversary celebration of Base Ordinance Depot Basic School in Accra. GBC
