NPA to intensify campaign on safety of petroleum products The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has asked consumers of petroleum products to be safety conscious following the disturbing trend of an increase in petroleum related accidents. The Authority is taking a week to sensitize consumers not to be complacent in safety precautions prescribed for handling petroleum products. According to the Public Relations Officer of the NPA, Yaro Kasambata, statistics from the burns unit at Korle-Bu show that since 2011, 32 percent of all burns recorded are petroleum products related. He said this must change and that is why the NPA is intensifying education to dispel the notion that petroleum products are becoming a threat and no longer safe. GBC
