GCAA to begin operation of remotely piloted aircraft

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, will soon begin operation of a remotely piloted Aircraft. 

To this end, the Authority is engaging partners to formulate a regulatory framework to guide the new operations.  

The Director-General of GCAA, Simon Allotey who announced this at a session in Accra said the new remotely piloted Aircraft will not pose any danger to normal traffic. 

The GCAA warned that operators of drones in unapproved areas without certification could face prosecution that could result in 5 to 30 years imprisonment.
