Eid-Ul-Fitr: Muslims urged to allow Ramadan Reflect in their lives

Muslims all over the country have been advised to allow the holy lives they lived during the Ramadan fast to reflect in their lives. 

Speaking in an interview with URA Radio in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional Capital, the Deputy Chief Imam, Mallam Tahiru Seidu asked Muslims not to only use the celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr for merry making but find time to reflect and take stock of their religious life and endeavor to make amends where they fall short. 

He urged them to practice all the teachings learnt during the 30 days of the Ramadan fast and continue to be each other’s keeper by exhibiting love and care towards their neighbors. 

Mallam Tahiru also commended Muslims especially the youth for going through the Ramadan without any disturbances and stressed the resolve of the Regional Chief Imam and other Muslim heads in the region to continue to ensure that the Muslim communities live up to expectation. 

He urged Muslims communities to be law abiding and endeavor to co-exist peacefully with other religious groups. 

Mallam Tahiru said it was regrettable that the Muslim youth had become notorious and as such had been associated with social vices and were also champions in violence, harassment and issuing of threats. 

He therefore advised them to desist from negative acts that tend to tarnish the image of the religion and the teachings of Islam. 

He also urged them to celebrate tomorrow’s feast with moderation especially taking into consideration excessive alcohol intake and careless riding since their lives are more important to their families, communities and society at large. 

On the upcoming November polls, Mallam Tahiru advised them not to let their political differences divide them but rather remain firm and resolute in whatever they do and endeavor to maintain peace before during and after the 2016 general elections. 

Muslims all over the world will converged at separate grounds to mark these year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers. 

In the Upper East region, hundreds of orthodox Muslims are expected to converge on Jubilee Park for the prayers.
